It is also important to consider the melting point of the plastic, as this will affect how it behaves during the crafting process. Polyester Shrinky Dinks are less likely to warp or crack when heated and can be used to create more intricate designs. When used for Shrinky Dinks, polystyrene sheets are typically 0.01 to 0.05 inches thick and can be cut into various shapes before being heated.<\/p>\n<p>Since each kit also came with stands for your creations, you could go beyond displaying, and actually use them as toys. Simple to color, primarily blue, when they shrunk down (like Smurfs should do) the result was a rich blue Smurf. So when kids were asking for Smurf toys, this was a great fit.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"toc-5\">Instructions<\/h3>\n<p>Shrinky dinks are an ideal craft because they\u2019re simple, inexpensive, and magical to watch transform in the oven. Or maybe you want to do another science project? Attach it to jewelry, make a luggage label, or even a guitar pick! The shrinky dinks are still cut-able, sand-able, drill-able, glue-able, and plenty more. I don\u2019t know what kind of shrinky dinks are available, if any, but I\u2019ll always be able to make some on my own\u2026 I guess my parents actually taught me something.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s always meaningful to see how art can create moments of connection, and we were grateful to play a small role in a recent event at Oklahoma Children\u2019s Hospital.
